"The Action lot have spent the last 22 years combining sports and entertainment at their indoor centres, hence why their mix of fun and fitness is exactly like the littlest bear's porridge – juuuuust right. They've given the old Whitchurch Sports Centre a new lease of life. Play footie, sandball, badminton or cricket with your mates, unleash some mercilessly cruel tackles or Oscar–worthy dives, then relax afterwards with a hot shower and the essential ice cold pint. Thankfully the Interaction Bar at Action Indoor Sports is a far cry from the chlorine–scented juice rooms you find at gyms, or scratty leisure centre 'club houses' where you're treated to resting your tennis elbow on a soggy beer towel and savouring a bag of beefy Space Raiders (with what looks like a picture of David Bowie in The Labyrinth on the packet – check 'em out). No sir–ee. This place is smarter than Einstein, serving Thatcher's cider, Tetley's Smooth Flow, Guinness, and Carlsberg Export, as well as vino for those who favour grape over grain. There's a really good 'team celebration' atmosphere; that kind of Ozzie/Kiwi/Hotter Place Than Britain vibe that's chilled and jovial and just the right high–energy side of rowdy when there's a big match on. And they know how to drink: 15 barrels of Carlsberg Extra Cold were chugged in three hours during a recent Bristol City v. Millwall fixture.

Lube up your throat ready to belt out a rousing rendition of 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot' complete with accompanying actions, or let the pros provide the entertainment instead; there are plasma screens everywhere, and tons of live action like the Indoor cricket World Cup. Look out for regular themed nights, gigs, and special events with Bristol City, or just perve at the amateur players in indecently tight shorts out on the courts Pull a muscle, pull a pint, pull your fit team mate. That's the way to do it."
